Middlesbrough are the frontrunners to sign Aston Villa loanee Louie Barry in January, according to Darren Witcoop.
Middlesbrough are one of the Championship’s form sides at the minute.
Michael Carrick’s side have found the route to goal over the past month, with 33 goals scored to date.

Finn Azaz, Ben Doak and Tommy Conway have starred for Boro. Azaz in particular has caught the eye having scored six goals and provided seven assists, firmly finding his feet on Teesside.
In the upcoming January window however, Middlesbrough are out to add more ammunition to their forward line. According to Darren Witcoop, reporting on X, they are the frontrunners to sign Louie Barry from Aston Villa.
Barry has spent the year with Stockport County and excelled. The Aston Villa loanee has scored 14 goals in 19 games in League One this season.
The Premier League parent club are expected to recall Barry from Edgeley Parkr for him to go to a Championship club in the January window. Several teams are linked with the forward, including Derby County, but Boro are reportedly the frontrunners.

Over the past year, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa have formed a connection with both sides willing to do business with each other.

In return, Finn Azaz was recalled from Plymouth Argyle and purchased by Boro. Those deals have worked for both parties which is a good sign going into this window.
Cameron Archer also had a successful loan spell at Boro when he was still a Villa player. He scored 11 times in 23 games and the Premier League side will hope that can be replicated with Barry.

Middlesbrough have a tough few games coming up. After a difficult trip to Burnley on Friday, they travel to 2nd-placed Leeds United on Tuesday.
Carrick’s side managed to avoid defeat against the Clarets and will be looking to do so again at Elland Road. Millwall then come to the Riverside, with the Lions proving particularly hard before their loss to Coventry City at the weekend.
Boro then travel to Plymouth Argyle, who have struggled this season. However, the Pilgrims are strong at Home Park and will give Michael Carrick’s side plenty to think about.
