Man Utd hold‘talks’ with 20 G/A forward who’s ‘particularly keen’ on PL move ahead of 2025 contract expiry

Long have Manchester United been linked with Lille frontman Jonathan David, though a deal has yet to come to fruition between all parties.

That could well be about to change heading into the new year, however, as the Red Devils are one of two reported Premier League clubs to have held ‘talks’ with the player’s entourage in recent weeks, according to CaughtOffside. Arsenal are the other English outfit mulling over a move amid Kai Havertz’s stagnant form and Gabriel Jesus’ notorious injury woes.

David is out of contract with Lille in six months’ time, meaning he can open talks with foreign clubs and even sign a pre-contract from the beginning of January. If United are at the front of the queue by then, fans can expect speculation to increase throughout the winter window.

The Canadian international, 24, has enjoyed a stellar start to the campaign thus far, scoring an impressive 17 goals and notching three assists in only 23 appearances across all competitions. Four of those goals have come in the Champions League, where Lille have won three of their five group-stage matches.

David netted the only goal of his side’s unprecedented win over reigning European champions Real Madrid in October before notching a brace in the subsequent 3-1 victory against Atletico Madrid.

Said to be ‘particularly keen on a move to England’, the striker will undoubtedly be of interest to INEOS chiefs. His young age and track record of successfully leading a line could prove hugely beneficial to United, who are currently relying on Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee to provide the firepower up front.

Inter Milan are currently showcasing the most desire to sanction David’s arrival as they are ‘desperate’ to sign a player of his calibre, but his admiration for England’s top division may end up being detrimental to the Serie A club’s pursuit.
