Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has reportedly agreed to join Serie A giants AC Milan but a deal is yet to be done, as per CalcioMercato. The Blues aim to offload the Englishman in the upcoming transfer window to make room for new signings.
Carney Chukwuemeka joined the Stamford Bridge outfit from Aston Villa in August 2022. The 21-year-old looked like an exciting prospect at Aston Villa, making 16 appearances for the senior team. However, due to a lack of minutes at the Stamford Bridge, his performances have declined.
The English midfielder has made 31 appearances for Chelsea, bagging two goals and one assist across all competitions. Chukwuemeka joined Enzo Maresca's side on a six-year deal and his ongoing contract with the Blues will expire in the summer of 2028.
However, Carney Chukwuemeka can get more playing time at San Siro for I Rossoneri. The likes of former Chelsea players such as Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, and Fikayo Tomori are currently playing for AC Milan and Chukwuemeka is expected to join this list.
The reported price of the deal is yet to be revealed by the clubs. AC Milan are currently seventh in the league table with 22 points in 14 matches, 12 points behind leaders Atalanta, who have accumulated 34 points in 15 games.
Football pundit thinks Chelsea is Liverpool's biggest threat for the Premier League title
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has billed Enzo Maresca's Chelsea as Liverpool's biggest rivals in the Premier League. The Blues defeated Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on Sunday, December 8.
The Blues were trailing 2-0 after 11 minutes but completed a memorable turnaround following goals from Jadon Sancho, Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez. With the win, Chelsea are four points behind league leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand.
Paul Merson stated that the Blues have played their biggest game of the season. He also billed Enzo Maresca's side as Liverpool's biggest threat in English top-tier football, saying (via BBC Sport):
"This is Chelsea's biggest game of the season, going to Tottenham and winning, going second in the league, four points behind Liverpool. They've got a big squad. They're in the title race. They might not go on and it but they're in it at the moment and they're Liverpool's biggest threat."
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal played a 1-1 draw against Fulham earlier on Sunday while Liverpool's clash against Everton got postponed due to safety concerns. Manchester City also dropped points following a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday, December 7.
