"United Could Be An Excellent Opportunity" - Emmanuel Petit Claims £88.5M Chelsea Flop Would Thrive Under Amorim

Emmanuel Petit believes Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk could revive his career under Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

Since moving to Stamford Bridge at the beginning of 2023 for a fee that could rise £88.5m, the Ukrainian international has struggled to hold down a first-team place with the Blues. Speaking to Gambling Zone, Petit said Muryk may be better suited to playing in a front three for the Red Devils:

“Sooner or later, Mudryk needs to make a decision. He arrived at the club two years ago and what has he done? He has not improved and he’s missing a valuable period of his career and his confidence is down. He’s 23 and he’s wasting too much time already and with the new sports direction at Chelsea, I don’t think he has a future there.”

“However. I think Man United could be an excellent opportunity for him as he suits in Ruben Amorim’s formation. His 3-4-3 could see him play him inside right behind the striker at Old Trafford.”

Mudryk’s record at Chelsea is poor

Much was expected of the forward following his arrival in England. He does have pace to burn but his decision-making and tactical awareness leave a lot to be desired.

Some of Mudryk’s failings would be forgiven if he was effective in the final third but his return of 10 goals and 9 assists in 73 appearances for Chelsea is pretty mediocre.

United already have plenty of options in Mudryk’s position

With the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and even Mason Mount capable of playing on the left-hand side of the forward line, you can’t see there being much room for Mudryk.

If United do go into the market for a new forward, they are much more likely to target a No.9 rather than another winger.
