David Moyes has told David Sullivan that he’s available for work, with Julen Lopetegui under pressure at West Ham United, according to The Sun.

The news outlet reports [9 December] that the Scottish manager has spoken with the Hammers’ chairman and could return to the Irons under the right circumstances.

Moyes is happy to wait for the appropriate opportunity after leaving the East London club in the summer.

Lopetegui replaced the 61-year-old, but the Spanish head coach’s future is in the air as the London Stadium hierarchy look at possible replacements [Daily Mail, 5 December].

The Hammers wanted to usher in a new era with the arrival of Lopetegui and subsequently made some impressive additions to their squad in the previous transfer window.

Moyes wasn’t the most popular figure at the Irons, with the London Stadium faithful not too pleased with the style of play under the Scotsman towards the end of his tenure.

The 61-year-old did deliver the East London club their first trophy in 43 years after winning the Europa Conference League in 2023.

While some supporters wanted Moyes out in the summer, Sullivan could’ve decided to give the former Manchester United boss a new contract at West Ham instead of letting him depart.

The Hammers’ chiefs seemed to have realised their error with Lopetegui failing to deliver at the London Stadium, but the Scotsman’s return wouldn’t be a good look for the boardroom.

While Moyes has had two decent spells in charge of the Irons, another comeback feels unlikely, considering the feelings some fans harbour against him.

The Scottish national could turn the tide at the Hammers, but Sullivan should go for a more progressive manager to keep the supporters’ ire at bay.
