Cole Palmer has now taken the most penalties without missing in Premier League history after scoring two more spot-kicks in Chelsea's 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Those were Palmer's 11th and 12th goals from 12 yards, equalling and surpassing Yaya Toure 's previous high of 11. Since the league's inaugural season in 1992, they are the only two players who have taken more than ten penalties without missing.
Ivan Toney had been the second until April last year when, after scoring his first ten in the top-flight, Nick Pope saved the Brentford striker's 11th to stop him from equalling Toure's record. Fraser Forster had the chance to do just that at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but could not.
The former England international has saved 12 penalties across his career, including three in the Premier League for Southampton. Forster even kept out a spot-kick from James Milner, who had not missed for seven and a half years, during a 0-0 draw with Liverpool in 2017.
Palmer, though, would not be denied. Yves Bissouma conceded the first with a late sliding tackle - which he has since apologised for - on Moises Caicedo, and the Chelsea forward sent Forster the wrong way.
Barely 20 minutes later, Palmer was back on the spot after he won Chelsea another when Pape Matar Sarr went through the back of him. Forster dived to the corner where the first penalty went, but Palmer was one step ahead, executing a Panenka by chipping the ball down the middle of the goal.
That gave Palmer the record, which appears uncatchable should he remain perfect from the spot. Dimitar Berbatov is third on the list with nine without missing. Fulham's Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves are the nearest active players, on eight, but the former is 33 now, and the latter has spent the last 18 months playing for Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.
