Liverpool currently has 14 players out on loan during the 2024/25 season, across a variety of leagues and divisions.

Stefan Bajcetic is developing at RB Salzburg under former Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders, though it’s not been the best start for the Dutchman in Austria.

Ben Doak has become a regular starter at Middlesbrough, contributing with one goal and five assists in 14 appearances

Lewis Koumas is impressing at Stoke City with plenty of game time, recording four goals and two assists in 22 appearances.

The club carefully selects destinations that offer regular playing time and appropriate competitive levels for their young talents.

This approach has proven particularly effective with players like Tyler Morton and Conor Bradley, who are now first-team Liverpool players having earned it on loan away from the club.

This even extends to the likes of Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho, whose loan spells significantly increased their market value ahead of eventual sales.

But there are also some forgotten players still in Liverpool’s loan army, with the likes of Rhys Williams still a Liverpool player after all these years.

During Liverpool’s injury-plagued 2020/21 campaign, Williams emerged as an unlikely hero.

His most significant contribution came during the final stretch of the season, where he partnered Nat Phillips in central defense for the last five games.

This makeshift partnership helped Liverpool secure five consecutive victories with three clean sheets, ultimately clinching a third-place finish and Champions League qualification

And it seems that he is also impressing on loan this season after a tough few years for the 23-year-old.

What did the Morecambe manager say about Rhys Williams?

Rhys Williams has been on loan with League Two side Morecambe since the beginning of the campaign.

Although the loan deal is only until January, manager Derek Adams wants the defender to stay past the winter window.

“I’ve spoken to Liverpool and we’ve asked for his loan to be extended,” Adams said via the Lancaster Guardian.

“He’s been excellent for us and it’s given him an opportunity to play week in week out, which he needs and wants.”

“He’s improving with every game and that’s the beauty of a loan, he gets an opportunity to go elsewhere and play.”

“He’s come in here and been able to get 90 minutes every week so, hopefully, we can have him until the end of the season.”

“Then, when he does go back at the end of the season, he’ll do so as someone who’s played 40-odd games and got regular football under his belt.”

Although Morecambe have struggled this season, currently sitting in 23rd place in the 24-team division, it seems that Williams has been a positive in the side nonetheless.

The 23-year-old has made 19 appearances across all competitions for the Shrimps.
