Alexis Mac Allister has told AS that he wants Liverpool to sort out Mohamed Salah’s long-term future at Anfield.
The 32-year-old forward is in his final year of contract and recently said the Reds haven’t yet offered him a new deal.
According to Mac Allister, the Egypt international has a lot of influence, both on and off the pitch, at Liverpool.
“He inspires us a lot, on and off the field. He is an example of work and dedication, always seeking to give his best. He is a very hard-working person and gives everything,” he said.
The 25-year-old midfielder is hopeful Salah can continue at Liverpool beyond this season.
When the Spanish newspaper asked about the attacker’s contract situation, the Argentina international stated Salah seems to be happy at the Merseyside club. He also wants Arne Slot’s side to extend the former Chelsea man’s contract.
“I hope he can stay at Liverpool next year. I want the negotiations to be successful. He seems happy here; he is a club legend. It would be ideal if he could finish his career here, but these are very personal decisions,” Mac Allister explained.
As well as Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have their deals expiring next June, and the South American was also asked about the defensive duo.
“Yes, hopefully Trent and Virgil can stay with us along with Salah,” he added.
“Alexander-Arnold has enormous quality. I’ve always said that he was criticised for his defensive role, but I have no doubt that both in defence and attack he is a differential player. Like Salah, he is in negotiations and hopefully he can stay in the team.”
The next few months are going to be key for Liverpool with regards to the renewal negotiations for their three stars who have contracts expiring.
Being top of the Premier League will surely only help the Reds negotiating team.
