Murillo says he's a 'fan' of £25m-rated player who Nottingham Forest want to sign

Nottingham Forest hit the jackpot when they managed to sign Murillo for a paltry fee from Brazilian outfit Corinthians.

Murillo checked in for £10.6 million and since making his Premier League debut against Brentford in October 2023, he’s been ever-present in the top flight.

Ian Wright has said that he’d pay to watch Murillo and the central defender attracted lots of interest during pre-season.

Evangelos Marinakis stood firm on a £70 million valuation, however, and that thwarted clubs who were keen on landing the centre-back.

Murillo isn’t the only Brazilian to have made an impact at Forest and in the near future the club might look towards the South American market for more players.

Murillo sends message to Forest-linked Yuri Alberto

It’s been claimed that Forest are in pole position to land Alberto during the January transfer window.

Alberto has just won the Golden Boot accolade for the latest Brazilian top flight campaign which was won by Botafogo.

The 23-year-old smashed 31 goals in all competitions, with 15 of those coming in Serie A and he’s scooped the prize.

After winning 3-0 over Gremio, Murillo sent a message to his former teammate – and he’s a huge admirer of the striker.

He posted on Instagram: “I am your fan bro.”

Alberto has a release clause in his contract of £66 million but it’s been reported that they will sell him for around £25 million during January with Europe in the player’s sights.

Alberto on Forest radar

It’s clear that Forest are keen on a striker and Murillo could possibly help the Reds get Alberto over the line.

Santiago Gimenez rejected Forest more than once in the summer and it’s unlikely the club will move for him again.

Alberto looks like an affordable option and at 23, he would have plenty of time on his side to reach his peak as a striker at Forest.

Quite clearly, he knows where the back of the net is and with Forest boasting a number of useful attacking players, he would have plenty of chances created for him at the City Ground.

Alberto looks like a very useful striker and with Forest in need of another forward option, it will be interesting to see if the Reds move for him next month.

It appears as though Murillo certainly hopes so…
