Sheffield Wednesday may be eager to snap up Louie Barry in January, but they appear to be losing the fight for his signature as things stand.
We are now 19 games into the Championship season and Sheffield Wednesday have found their rhythm, with the Owls now sitting in ninth place in the table.
Danny Rohl has guided his team to a four-game unbeaten run of late, but the Sheffield Wednesday boss was unhappy with his team’s mentality over the weekend in the 1-1 draw against Preston North End.
To take the team to the next level, Sheffield Wednesday fans are desperate to see the club bring in Louie Barry on loan in January, but they may end up disappointed.

Middlesbrough have the upper hand in battle to sign Louie Barry
Apparently, the idea of Aston Villa recalling Barry from his spell with Stockport County is being ‘discussed’ right now, after the forward made a prolific start to life in League One.
It seems Middlesbrough are now looking the likely destination for the 21-year-old, as Darren Witcoop claimed on Twitter/X that the North East outfit are leading the race for Louie Barry.
Witcoop wrote: “Expect Louie Barry to leave Stockport to play in the Championship come January. Aston Villa deciding the right club with Middlesbrough frontrunners for the forward.”

Wednesday have already been urged to look elsewhere rather than going all-in on Barry, and this latest news will surely be a blow for Rohl as he tries to bolster his squad.
The Owls have little to no budget in January so it will be loan signings only for Sheffield Wednesday this time around.

There are other options out there for Sheffield Wednesday, but Barry is the best
Of course, that doesn’t mean the race is over just yet. Louie Barry is still very much a realistic target for Sheffield Wednesday in January, but they will have to look at other options, too.
There are plenty of players in the Premier League that Sheffield Wednesday could loan in the New Year, and one target they have to consider is Jayden Danns, from Liverpool.
The teenager is a big, strong forward with great technical ability, an eye for goal, and a brilliant engine. He’s been out injured for a while, and will be looking for regular game time to get back on track as soon as possible.
Whether Wednesday gamble on Danns, push on for Barry, or sign someone completely different remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: if the Owls are to make a play for promotion this year, they need extra firepower.
