“Heading in the right direction” – Mikel Arteta has big praise for Arsenal man, reveals he has plan for him

Martin Ødegaard returned to action for Arsenal after an injury back in November and since then, he’s again been an important part of the Gunners’ attack.

Norwegian outlet VG spoke to Gunners’ manager Mikel Arteta about the attacking midfielder after the game and the Spaniard had big praise for Ødegaard’s personality and importance to the Arsenal side.

Arteta said: “ Everyone is unique, Martin is unique. His personality, his characteristics, the way he has been raised is at the absolute highest level.

“He is everything we could dream of as a representative of our club and team.”

When asked about the 25-year-old’’s importance to his setup, the Arsenal boss had more to say.

“A huge player for us. He shows time and again what he delivers in big games, through the spark he brings to the team.”

VG also asked Arteta about Ødegaard’s development, and the manager revealed that the club has a plan for him that can take him to the next level.

“There are a few goals we have set for ourselves before the season, but I’m obviously not going to share them here. Every player has them, and he’s heading in the right direction.”

Ødegaard will want to rack up some better statistics for the rest of the reason, having been frustrated by the injury issue and seeing that provide something of a bump in the road.

Injuries have played a role in his numbers being lower than the 2023/24 season, and Ødegaard will be confident of a better few months ahead.
