Real Madrid open to selling defensive outcast in January as La Liga club intensifies pursuit

Jesus Vallejo’s time at Real Madrid seems to be running out. The Spanish defender has played no more than 10 minutes for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season, and when he did feature against Deportivo Alaves, his mistakes proved costly for the team.

After that brief appearance, Ancelotti has not called upon the Spanish defender again, and the player has not started a match since the first pre-season game in August.

Vallejo’s contract with Real Madrid expires on 30th June, and a renewal seems unlikely, as he has not featured prominently for the club in quite some time.

Vallejo’s prospects

Now, according to reports relayed by Defensa Central, Real Madrid would be open to offloading Jesus Vallejo in the upcoming January transfer window.

As previously reported, Vallejo has also attracted the interest of Rayo Vallecano, who would be open to making a move for him in January or wait until his contract expires in the summer.

An alternate report from Estadio Deportivo highlighted concerns within the Rayo Vallecano camp about the defender’s inactivity and the difficulty Real Madrid often presents when negotiating the departure of a player.

However, with Real Madrid now seemingly open to the sale, Rayo Vallecano intend to open negotiations with Vallejo in January when the transfer window opens.

The plan for Vallejo

As per the reports, Vallaceno’s plan is to offer the 27-year-old a contract until the end of this season, with an option for two more years.

Should Real Madrid fail to reach an agreement with Rayo Vallecano over a January transfer, both the club and Vallejo would be open to negotiations.

As his contract with the Spanish champions expires on 30th June, Vallejo would be able to join Rayo Vallecano from that date as a free agent.
