Real Madrid are believed to be chasing a key Liverpool player who Arne Slot has heavily relied upon so far this season.
Reds supporters have gotten used to the fact that in recent years Real Madrid have been a thorn in their side both when on and off the pitch.
Signing Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham in consecutive summers, both of whom were Liverpool targets, two big Champions League final losses, a battering in the round of 16 in the same competition and now trying to prise Trent Alexander-Arnold away from his boyhood club, it was only their recent Champions League match which left Reds feeling like maybe they could start getting their own back.
Now however, it looks like the Spanish side will be attempting a swoop for another key part of Arne Slot’s Premier League-leading team, possibly even as early as this upcoming January transfer window.

A report from Spanish outlet Fichajes details Real Madrid’s burgeoning interest in Ryan Gravenberch. Undoubtedly the standout player when it comes to who Slot has improved in his first six months as head coach, a strong display against Madrid in the recent 2-0 win will likely have gone some way to explaining this sudden interest.

The report goes on to detail that it could set in motion a chain reaction, with Barcelona increasingly desperate to offload another Dutch midfielder in Frenkie de Jong, allegedly a target for Liverpool were Gravenberch to depart for the Bernabeu. With De Jong’s wages being a big problem for the Catalan club, a separate report detailed they are supposedly willing to sell for a fee around £17 million.
Whilst a move for De Jong at that price represents a certain value for money, it should be stated that all the reports note that Liverpool are highly unlikely to sanction Gravenberch’s sale, particularly in the middle of a title challenge.
Also, any potential fee Madrid would pay for the Dutchman would be very steep, given there is no plan to sell him and his contract currently runs until 2028.
