Frank Lampard’s previous comments about Tottenham rung true after Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 win

Chelsea fans were greeted to a seriously enjoyable afternoon of Premier League football away from home against their arch-rivals yesterday.

The Blues came from 2-0 down to run out 4-3 winners, with Cole Palmer the star of the show yet again for the Blues.

Enzo Maresca was one of those in awe at the Panenka penalty that put them out of sight, with a number of club legends quick to share their joy too.

John Terry aimed a dig at Spurs with his celebration, while Frank Lampard praised Palmer for the sensational performance he had put in.

Both individuals will be more than aware of the importance of the London derby to Chelsea and their supporters, and just how big that win could be in Chelsea’s season.

Lampard in particular has fond memories of facing Spurs, and aimed a sly shot at them when interviewed by Gary Neville for The Overlap a few years ago.

When asked about his favourite away ground to play in, Lampard said:

“Tottenham. We used to beat them a lot. We did. And Chelsea had a thing from before I came to the club, where it they called it ‘three point lane’ rather than White Hart Lane and they used to go there and win.”

Jadon Sancho’s terrific goal from distance brought them back into the game, and there was a belief from there that they were never going to lose the game.
