Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has made his feelings clear about Mohamed Salah's contract situation at Anfield. There has been some uncertainty around Salah's future, despite his importance at Anfield. The Egyptian winger has about six months left on his contract, and he will be allowed to speak with other clubs in January.
He has already scored 15 goals and provided 12 assists in just 21 games this season, helping the Reds sit at the top of the Premier League table. They also sit at the top of the Champions League standings, without losing a single game continental.
Salah's massive influence, however, has not brought about a contract extension just yet. Now, his teammate Alexis Mac Allister has spoken about the situation, telling Spanish newspaper AS (via Sport Witness):
“I hope he can stay at Liverpool next year. I want the negotiations to be successful. He seems happy here; he is a club legend. It would be ideal if he could finish his career here, but these are very personal decisions."
Mac Allister also spoke about how important Salah was to the team, adding:
“He inspires us a lot, on and off the field. He is an example of work and dedication, always seeking to give his best. He is a very hard-working person and gives everything."
Mohamed Salah has spoken to the media about his contract situation a number of times, notably revealing that he was "more out than in". He also revealed that the club had yet to submit an offer, and he was "disappointed" about the situation.
Mac Allister speaks about Liverpool captain and vice-captain, whose contracts are also near expiration
Alexis Mac Allister has also spoken about Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and vice captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts are near expiration. The two, alongside Mohamed Salah, could potentially leave the club in the summer of 2025 if agreements are not concluded.
Mac Allister told AS (via Metro):
“Yes, hopefully Trent and Virgil can stay with us along with Salah. Alexander-Arnold has enormous quality. I’ve always said that he was criticised for his defensive role, but I have no doubt that both in defence and attack he is a differential player. Like Salah, he is in negotiations and hopefully he can stay in the team.”
It is worth noting that Trent Alexander-Arnold has been widely linked to a move to Real Madrid, where he could take over from legendary right-back Dani Carvajal. His future remains unclear at Liverpool, while Virgil van Dijk looks more likely to continue his captaincy at Anfield.
