Euro giants encounter roadblock in pursuit of 21-year-old forgotten Chelsea whizkid

Scottish giants Rangers are unlikely to sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka in the upcoming transfer window.

Carney Chukwuemeka’s future has been up in the air for some time now. He is expected to be on the move in the winter transfer window, and there is interest in his services from quite a few top clubs. Rangers are one of the clubs that have been linked with the English midfielder, but according to a report from Football Insider, they are unlikely to sign him in January.

The financial package involved in signing the English youth international from Stamford Bridge is beyond Rangers’ capabilities at this stage. As a result, the Scottish giants have very limited chances of striking a deal for him.

Carney Chukwuemeka came up the ranks at Aston Villa. He was already a big name in English football coming up the ranks at the West Midlands club. His impressive rise caught the attention of Chelsea, who were looking to sign the best young players. The Blues forked out a significant fee of £20 million to sign him back in 2022 on a six-year deal.

While the 21-year-old was expected to eventually become an important first-team player, things have not gone according to plan. Over the years, he has only had limited game time. Things seem to have gone from bad to worse under Enzo Maresca as he has not had a single minute in the Premier League.

Carney Chukwuemeka has been involved in just four fixtures so far and has racked up just 63 minutes of first-team football. He is frustrated by the lack of minutes and is expected to be on the move in January. Multiple top clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation and could look to raid Chelsea in January.

Rangers hit a roadblock in Chukwuemeka pursuit

There is a growing expectation that the Blues will be open to a permanent transfer as well as a loan move. While there is interest in him from clubs in the Premier League, Rangers have been linked with Carney Chukwuemeka for a while now. Despite their financial struggles, the Scottish giants are looking to add more quality to their squad in January with loan deals.

The Scottish giants have European football to offer which does help their cause but the financial side things are a major problem for them. They do not have the financial muscle to lure him to Ibrox.

Rangers will require significant support from the London club to secure his services on a temporary basis. The Blues will have to pay a massive part of his wages to make a deal happen. As a result, the report suggests a move to the Scottish club is highly unlikely.
