Liverpool have been handed a double fitness boost. Both Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota were seen taking part in full training on Monday on the eve of the team's Champions League clash with Girona.

Alisson has been absent with a hamstring problem since the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on October 5, while Jota has been sidelined due to a chest issue since October 12 when Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1.

Both players were pictured taking part in training drills on Friday ahead of the postponed Merseyside derby and now appear to have stepped up their recovery before the trip to the Spanish outfit.

Reds head coach Arne Slot has had a number of injury issues to deal with in recent weeks, although his team remain top of both the Premier League and the European Cup league phase.

Caoimhin Kelleher and Darwin Nunez have deputised well for Alisson and Jota respectively during their absences. Nevertheless, Slot will be delighted to have more options at his disposal before a busy festive period in which the Reds are battling in four different competitions.

Even with the returning duo, Liverpool are still waiting on a number of key players to recover from problems. Ibrahima Konate, Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas are expected to be out until after Christmas.

Federico Chiesa has been slowly stepping up his fitness with a game for the club's Under-21 last Wednesday, although he was absent from Monday's session due to illness according to reports.

A number of youngsters also took part in the session. Amara Nallo, Trey Nyoni, Rio Ngumoha and James Norris were all involved.
