Amad Diallo has revealed some key advice he received from Bruno Fernandes on the Old Trafford pitch after a recent Manchester United clash.
Manchester United have had mixed form since Ruben Amorim took charge of the club last month.
The Reds have won twice, drawn once and lost the other two in the Portuguese head coach’s first five games.
While the form hasn’t been perfect, Amorim is getting a good chance to assess his playing squad and see who will fit into the system in the long term.
Amad Diallo is one of the players who have impressed the most under the 39-year-old.
The Ivorian winger has been operating as a wingback and showed solid defensive ability while also still being a threat going the other way.
The 22-year-old has registered four assists in those five games, two of which he started on the bench. He was awarded the Man of the Match against Everton after grabbing two assists in the 4-0 win.
However, after the game it was noticed that Bruno Fernandes has a stern conversation on the pitch with Amad, where he looked to be giving the youngster some advice.
Asked by Sky Italia about that moment, Amad explained: “He told me some things to improve during games and asked me to be more focused towards the end of the game because that’s when you see the champions.”
Fernandes was given the captaincy at Old Trafford under previous manager Erik ten Hag and has since tried to show his leadership to his teammates.
He is usually the first to try and help the younger players come through into the first-team and be more comfortable while also holding them to high standards.
This is the same message Amorim wants to push to his players, who he thinks can all improve further and show better levels than they have done.
“I am so happy to have Bruno as my teammate here,” added Amad. “He speaks Italian, so we have a special bond.”
