'Shock swoop' - Chelsea talisman to become a global icon at Real Madrid?

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

The 22-year-old has been one of the top talents in England's top flight since making the permanent switch from Manchester City to Stamford Bridge during the summer of 2023.

Palmer netted his 10th and 11th goals of the Premier League campaign on Sunday afternoon, when Chelsea managed to win a seven-goal thriller against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Providing 17 goal contributions during 15 top-flight matches to date in 2024-25, the England international is continuing to prove his considerable worth to Enzo Maresca's men.

Following his exit from the blue side of Manchester in September 2023, Palmer has featured in 62 games for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring 36 goals.

Real Madrid target Chelsea star Palmer?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, a major European powerhouse are eyeing up the services of Chelsea and England sensation Palmer in the future.

The report claims that La Liga and Champions League holders Real Madrid are keen on securing the signature of the 22-year-old at some point.

It is understood that Florentino Perez and the rest of the Los Blancos hierarchy view Palmer as someone who could be a good fit for the Bernabeu club.

The former Citizens youngster has undoubted talent on the pitch, whilst also possessing the mentality to be a global icon at arguably the biggest club in the world.

Despite serious interest from Carlo Ancelotti's side, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea are willing to part ways with star man Palmer at any price.

Real Madrid's Galactico model

During a modern age of football in which clubs are becoming increasingly efficient at locating lesser-known gems, Real Madrid have the pull to continue their Galactico strategy.

Los Blancos have fared extremely well in luring some of the sport's biggest names to Spain in recent times, including Jude Bellingham and most recently Kylian Mbappe.

Following a 25-goal year at Chelsea in 2023-24 and a blistering start to the current term, there is no question that Palmer would be good enough for a step up to the 15-time European champions.

Not included in Maresca's Conference League-competing squad, the 22-year-old will sit and watch his Chelsea teammates at FC Astana on Thursday afternoon.
