Arsenal missed the chance to close the gap with Liverpool after they were held to a 1-1 draw in the Premier League at Craven Cottage.
Bukayo Saka nearly won the game for the Gunners in the dying minutes of the match when he headed in Gabriel Martinelli’s cross.
However, after a long VAR check, the goal was disallowed. The 23-year-old attacker was found to be offside during the build-up, and Arsenal lost further ground in the title race.
Ally McCoist was furious with Martinelli on talkSPORT and said that such errors drive him crazy.
The popular football pundit said: “It was a brilliant delivery from Martinelli.
“But there’s no excuse for him to be offside. None. He’s looking right across the line. It drives me crazy when widemen go offside.”
Arsenal were left frustrated yet again
After Liverpool’s Merseyside derby clash against Everton was postponed, Arsenal had a great opportunity to close the gap.
However, they struggled to create enough clear-cut opportunities from open play.
Raul Jimenez scored his sixth goal of the season as he gave Fulham the lead after 11 minutes. William Saliba restored parity for the Gunners as they relied on set-pieces once again to break Fulham’s defence.
The Gunners are now six points behind Liverpool, having played a game more.
It was indeed a very frustrating result for Arsenal, but the draw was probably a fair result. They lacked sharpness and failed to break down Fulham’s tight defence.
While there’s still a long way to go in the title race, the Gunners could find themselves nine points behind Liverpool if the Reds win their game in hand.

What must be really concerning for Mikel Arteta is that they only managed four shots on target during the game, and their best moment came from dead-ball situations.
Arsenal are unbeaten in six games now, and they will face Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
