Arsenal are reportedly prepared to make an offer of €65 million to try and sign Brazilian striker Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion. The former Watford man is said to be on the radar of several English clubs, having impressed at Seagulls since joining them in the summer of 2023.
The Gunners have been linked with several strikers as Gabriel Jesus struggles to effectively lead the line for Mikel Arteta's side. Fichajes.net have now named Joao Pedro as the latest entry into the Gunners' list of targets.
After an injury-hit start to the season, Pedro is finding his best form and has four goals and three assists in nine league appearances this term. His physique and a keen eye for goal make him a good threat up front. Moreover, his ability to link up play and movement going forward adds to his portfolio.
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to invest in his potential, and spend up to €65 million to prise him away from the Amex Stadium. Mikel Arteta's side are not alone in their interest in the 23-year-old, however, as Liverpool are also interested in signing the striker.
The Gunners have had Kai Havertz fill in admirably, at times, at centre-forward while Gabriel Jesus has gone through a lengthy dry patch since the start of the 2023-24 season. The versatile German has played the most minutes of any outfield player for the Gunners this season, scoring nine times.
But the club believe they need to sign another striker to improve their chances of picking up silverware.
Kai Havertz fails to deliver as Arsenal drop points in title race
Kai Havertz failed to impress for Arsenal as they played out a 1-1 Premier League draw against London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, December 8. The Gunners now sit in third, two points behind Chelsea in second and six behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
Mikel Arteta's side needed a second-half goal from William Saliba to salvage a point after going behind to a goal from Raul Jimenez in the first period. The Arsenal manager took off Havertz, his starting striker, after a largely ineffective 74-minute performance.
The 25-year-old German assisted Saliba's goal but had only five touches in the opposition box and won one of four ground duels. He also failed to hit the target with any of his three shots attempted and missed a big chance for his side in the game, according to FotMob.
