In the wake of Manchester United sacking Dan Ashworth this weekend, The Red Devils are now on a hunt for a new sporting director.
We revealed yesterday that the United hierarchy had organised an emergency meeting to focus on the implementation of a new organisational structure.
Samuel Luckhurst reported a source commented that there were “so many cooks and egos in the structure that it felt like it was destined to have someone leave”.
Ultimately this could be the reason for INEOS looking at the structure once more.
Jason Wilcox is reportedly taking on some of the duties of Ashworth, with him already having a good rapport with Omar Berrada, Sir Dave Brailsford and Ruben Amorim.
However, United appear to have found Ashworth’s replacement, going up against Arsenal to secure his appointment.
The Premier League rivals are now looking at Luis Campos, PSG’s football advisor, as reported by iNews.

Manchester United look to Luis Campos as Dan Ashworth’s replacement
Whilst United are looking to replace Ashworth, Arsenal are also looking to Campos to replace Edu, their sporting director who left the London-based club in November.
Campos is being considered due to his success at PSG, helping to oversee a drastic change in philosophy at the club since joining in 2022. Since then the French club have moved away from signing big names like Lionel Messi and Neymar, to acquiring young talent like Joao Neves and Desire Doue, a philosophy United want to take as well.
Although United are looking to Campos, it’s unsure at this time if he’ll be appointed as a sporting director, or if Ashworth’s departure could see the directors line up in a different way.
