Ange Postecoglou WON'T be axed by Tottenham following their home collapse against Chelsea.
The under-pressure Aussie saw his Spurs team throw away a two goal lead against their London rivals, leaving fans fuming at his stubborn stance over playing style as he refuses to rein his players in for the sake of results. And now the Telegraph reports that ruthless club supremo Daniel Levy will resist calls for him to pull the trigger on the ex-Celtic head coach.
That keeps him on a collision course with old rivals Rangers. Tottenham are in Glasgow this Thursday for a Europa League date with Philippe Clement's men. Both know three points will virtually guarantee their passage through to the playoff round of 32, and put a top eight spot and last 16 booking within touching distance. And Ange will get the chance to turn things around despite ropey results and spats with fans in recent days and weeks.
As well as returning to Glasgow, he faces a trip to Southampton before Man Utd head to North London for a Carabao Cup quarter-final encounter. Then it's league leaders Liverpool at home.
Postecoglou retains the support of Spurs chief internally, although that may waver if results don't pick up during a hectic festive schedule. Injuries have been taken into account, and the manager has already sat down to talk January transfers with technical director Johan Lange.
A failure to take maximum from the Rangers clash - which will be seen as his easiest task on paper - will see the pressure on Levy to act increase. He has shown a willingness to wield the axe on Postecoglou's successors and while his faith in the Aussie's methods remains, Spurs sit 11th in the table and his head coach reminded onlookers earlier this season that he always wins a trophy in his second campaign at clubs.
