Alphonso Davies has been a man in demand in the European transfer market, with his contract at Bayern Munich set to expire at the end of the season.
Real Madrid, for the longest time, were said to be frontrunners to sign the Canadian left-back on a free transfer next summer.
But recent weeks have seen the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United also enter the race. The Blaugrana see the presence of Hansi Flick as an advantage as they attempt to lure Davies and bolster their left-back options.
Bayern optimistic about Davies’ renewal
However, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are working hard to renew the contract of Davies and keep him at the Allianz Arena.
In fact, the Bavarians’ idea is to make the 24-year-old left-back one of the faces of their team and are optimistic about finalising a renewal agreement with him in the near future.

This development comes on the back of reports that Davies had accepted to lower his salary and signing bonus demands.
The Canadian international was initially holding out for an annual salary of €10 million while also seeking a signing bonus of around €15 million.
Neither Bayern nor any of his suitors, apart from Manchester United, were willing to meet those figures, resulting in him lowering his demands, thus paving the way for the Bundesliga heavyweights to grow confident about an agreement.
Davies, currently out injured, is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, who had already inquired about his situation last summer.
However, as things stand, it is expected that the left-back will continue in Europe, although it is unclear if he will remain at Bayern Munich or choose Barcelona, Real Madrid, or a different team altogether.
