Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is in a confident mood ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen.
The 35-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews. He also made clear that the Nerazzurri are doing everything to play at the same level as last season.
Tomorrow evening, Inter go head to head with Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
The Nerazzurri have reason to be confident ahead the match.
So far this season, Inter have not lost in the Champions League. They haven’t even conceded a goal to date.
Inter drew away to Manchester City in their opener. Then wins against Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys, Arsenal, and RB Leipzig followed.
Results against that calibre of opposition are a testament to Inter’s quality in Europe.
But at the same time, Leverkusen will be some of the most formidable opposition that Inter face.
The German side are reigning Bundesliga champions. They in fact went the entirety of last season without losing in the league, the first team in history to ever do so.
Inter Midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan Confident Ahead Of Bayer Leverkusen Clash
Inter midfielder Mkhitaryan was asked if Inter want to win the Treble this season. “That’s what we’re trying to do,” he said.
“We’re trying to play the same way we did last season,” Mkhitaryan went on.
“We have to take it one step at a time. We don’t need to rush ourselves and think about what will happen in February and March.”
“Let’s think about Bayer Leverkusen,” the 35-year-old said. “Then Lazio.”
“Then we’ll see where we get.”
Mkhitaryan made clear that “Bayer are very strong. They showed that last season, and are doing so again this season.”
“But we know how to go up against them,” insisted the former Arsenal and Roma midfielder. “We’re going there to win, because we want to be in the top eight of the table.”
