The prestigious FIFPRO World XI for 2024 has on Monday been unveiled.
And it is nothing short of dominated by members of La Liga champions Real Madrid’s squad, both present and past.
The FIFPRO team, for those not aware, aims to recognise the standout performers in each position on the pitch from across world football over the prior 12 months.
With the aforementioned Real Madrid fresh off a domestic and European double last season, it should in turn come as little surprise to hear of a whole host of Blancos stars featuring front and centre.
In total, five members of Carlo Ancelotti’s current squad, as well as one from last season, have been voted in. They come in the form of Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rüdiger, Toni Kroos, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Jr, and Kylian Mbappé.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are next up with four inclusions – Ederson, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.
This leaves room for one final name, in the form of Liverpool stalwart Virgil van Dijk.
