Former Manchester United player Gary Neville has criticised manager Ruben Amorim following United’s 3-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest.
The Red Devils had a day to forget defensively at Old Trafford after they conceded in just the second minute to a goal from a corner.
Rasmus Hojlund pulled one goal back, but Forest scored two more and despite a great goal from Bruno Fernandes in the 61st minute, they couldn’t find an equaliser.

Ruben Amorim made five changes during the game, including two of the back three, something that Gary Neville criticised after the match.
He said on CBS via Sky Sports: “When you keep changing players, you’re basically saying to all of them that you don’t trust them. All of a sudden you’ve got a completely different system and you can never get stability or consistency.
“They weren’t playing that bad in the first half…then you allow two mistakes that were made after half time and you make changes and all of a sudden everything falls to pieces, and it looked really scruffy. They looked a mess at the end United with no real shape.”
Neville was also quick to criticise the work rate of the Manchester United players during the game and this season as a whole. They are languishing down the bottom of the running statistics this season, 16th in distance covered.
“No good team was ever a good team without hard work.” Neville added, “Manchester United are 13th in the league, their running stats (distance covered) is 16th in the league. You don’t win anything if you’re being outrun every single week.”
Ruben Amorim with mixed results after five games
Amorim has been in charge for five matches at United now winning two, losing two and drawing one game.
Their biggest challenge so far came against Arsenal last week in a game where Amorim’s side never really looked in the competition, losing 2-0 and failing to create enough good chances to score.
The Red Devils have conceded eight goals in the five games under Amorim, keeping a clean sheet in just one game against Everton.
The United boss needs to make sure his defence is more solid as they have games against Manchester City and high-scoring Tottenham before Christmas.
