Arsenal have reportedly turned down a £12.5 million opening bid from Napoli for Polish defender Jakub Kiwior ahead of the January transfer window. The 23-year-old has struggled to secure regular playing time at the Emirates, fueling speculation about his future with the club.

Kiwior, who joined Arsenal in January 2023, has made 50 appearances across all competitions but has been unable to cement a starting role, facing stiff competition from Gabriel Magalhães and Riccardo Calafiori. This season, the versatile defender has made just two Premier League starts, leading to growing frustration over his limited role.

Recent reports have linked Kiwior with a return to Italy, where he previously played for Spezia in Serie A. While Arsenal were said to be open to a loan move this winter, Napoli have reportedly made their intentions clear by submitting a formal bid.

According to Tuttosport, the Serie A giants lodged an initial €15 million (£12.5 million) offer for Kiwior, but Arsenal swiftly rejected the proposal. The Gunners are believed to value the Poland international at €25 million (£20 million) and are unlikely to consider a permanent sale unless Napoli significantly increase their bid.

The Italian outlet also suggested that Napoli face an “uphill struggle” in persuading Arsenal to part ways with Kiwior, whose contract runs until the summer of 2028.

Kiwior’s limited playing time has been a source of frustration, but his agent, Pawel Zimonczyk, previously dismissed speculation about an exit, stating earlier this year that his client remained committed to Arsenal.

However, Kiwior himself has admitted that he finds it flattering to be linked with top European clubs. “It’s definitely nice, and I’m glad there’s interest in me,” he told Super Express. “But I focus on what is now. Besides, there have been no talks with me yet.”

As January approaches, Arsenal face a decision regarding Kiwior’s future. While Napoli’s interest is evident, the North London club is unlikely to let the player leave unless their valuation is met.
