Liverpool took to the AXA Training Centre on Monday morning for their final preparations ahead of the Champions League clash tie vs Girona.
The Reds head to Catalonia on Tuesday evening carrying a remarkable distinction – they stand alone as the Champions League’s only perfect team this season.
The campaign has been nothing short of exceptional, with maximum points from five matches, a dozen goals scored, and their defense breached just once.
The contrast between the two sides could hardly be starker. While Liverpool continue their imperious form both domestically and in Europe, Girona’s first Champions League adventure has proven challenging.
The Spanish side finds themselves near the bottom of the competition standings, managing just one victory from five outings.
Their struggles extended to the weekend, where they suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid on home soil, further highlighting the gap in quality they face at this level.
And amid plenty of updates at the AXA Training Centre, one more has emerged on the eve of the clash
Tyler Morton ruled out of Girona clash
Tyler Morton has been ruled out of the clash at the Estadi Montilivi tomorrow evening according to reports.
It has been reported that the 22-year-old picked up a knock in training, and won’t be travelling with the squad.
However, the issue has been described as ‘minor’.
The midfielder has been sparsely used by manager Arne Slot, having made just two appearances for Liverpool in the 2024/25 season, totaling 74 minutes of playing time.
His most recent appearance came in a 3-2 victory against Brighton, where he played 66 minutes.
One of his two appearances came as a substitute, and he has contributed one assist during his limited playing time this season.
Six academy players were spotted in training ahead of the UCL clash, while Federico Chiesa was absent from the AXA due to illness.
