Report: Julen Lopetegui future: West Ham United hold meeting with Serie A winner

West Ham United have allegedly moved to hold a meeting with a potential replacement for Julen Lopetegui.

The Spaniard is battling to save his job at the London Stadium after a prolonged period of inconsistent form.

With West Ham sitting in 14th position in the Premier League table ahead of Monday night's El Sackico showdown with Wolverhampton Wanderers, the loser of that fixture could be looking for a new manager later in the week.

According to Football Insider, club officials have already taken steps to assess their options going forward.

The report claims that West Ham have already held a meeting with former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri.

Speaking on the outlet's Inside Track Podcast, correspondent Pete O'Rourke says that the veteran is highly-regarded by the club's powers-that-be.

Allegri has been out of work since his second stint at Juventus came to an end in May 2024. The 57-year-old has only managed the Turin giants since 2014.

During that time, he has managed 420 matches and won 12 pieces of silverware, including five Serie A titles.

Although Allegri has never managed outside of Italy, it is alleged that he holds a desire to manage in the Premier League.

As it stands, though, West Ham may opt against a move for Allegri unless he lowers his wage expectations at the East Londoners.

Allegri on high-profile shortlist?

Graham Potter is another name to have recently been linked with West Ham, the former Chelsea boss also eager to take on a new project as soon as possible.

Wolves are also expected to be in the market for a new head coach should they lose to West Ham with Potter allegedly on their radar.

Ex-Porto man Sergio Conceicao is another to be credited as a possible target at a time when West Ham have lost four of their last seven Premier League fixtures.

With West Ham having collected seven points and scored 10 times in seven league games on familiar territory during 204-25, Lopetegui will hope that a game under the lights with a home following behind them will kick-start his stint at the club.
