The Golden State Warriors knew they needed a sharpshooter when they lost Klay Thompson.
With that in mind, they went after one of the best in the league.
Buddy Hield started the season off incredibly, making him seem like the ultimate bargain for this organization.
He’s cooled off a little bit since, and he’s been up and down this season.
Notably, the Warriors got the best version of him in the win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Hield finished the game with 27 points on 10 of 18 from the floor, including 7 of 13 makes from beyond the arc.
That’s why, following the win, Stephen Curry made sure to give him his flowers, praising him for his impressive work ethic and determination to stay ready and get better (via 95.7 The Game):
“He probably puts more hours in the gym than I think I’ve ever seen anybody… The work that he puts in. I heard him say he won’t leave the gym until it feels good,” he said.

Hield is a shooter, so there will be ups and downs.
While mostly efficient, three-point shooters like him tend to experience shooting slumps; that’s normal, and even Curry, the greatest three-point shooter ever, has experienced that.
Of course, he doesn’t play much defense, so there’s not much use for him on the floor when his shot isn’t falling.
That doesn’t mean he’s not the kind of player you want with the ball in his hands when you need a bucket.
The Warriors have won two of their last three games, and they might finally be getting on track after enduring a tough stretch.
They will need their shooter to be at his best for that to happen.
