Lego Fortnite takes on GTA and The Sims with roleplaying Brick Life mode this week

Fortnite Chapter 6 arrived recently, but now it's LEGO Fortnite's time for a big update.

The mode, introduced last year, has been focused primarily on a survival experience where players harvest materials and build out their homes in co-op, but it's seeing some big changes.

For one, the survival part of LEGO Fortnite is being rebranded to LEGO Fortnite Odyssey with a major game update tomorrow, December 10. For another, Epic Games and LEGO are introducing a fresh "social roleplay" game for LEGO Fortnite players called LEGO Fortnite Brick Life.

As you can see in the trailer above, LEGO Fortnite's new mode lets players engage in a surprising new roleplay setup where they can "make new friends, explore the sights, land your dream job, and move into your new home".

The update, which will go live on December 12, is an "ever-evolving experience" with fresh jobs, resources and events coming over time in a way that will sound familiar to anyone that's spent time roleplaying in Grand Theft Auto Online over the years, but could also end up feeling closer to The Sims.

LEGO Fortnite continues to grow alongside the main battle royale

Meanwhile, LEGO Fortnite Odyssey will gain a fresh new boss tomorrow, the Storm King, and the survival mode will also see progression and crafting system changes - although Epic hasn't gone into exactly how that is.

Thankfully we won't have to wait long to find out as Fortnite continues its commitment to regular updates. You'll be able to find the new modes in the Discover menu in Fortnite.
