Sonny’s heartfelt message after Chelsea: “We all care”

**[Heung-Min Son](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/teams/men/players/heung-min-son/)** was crestfallen but determined to put things right after our 4-3 loss against Chelsea on Sunday.

A day that started so well with the return of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven and then going 2-0 up in 12 minutes in an electic start at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium quickly turned the other way. Cuti was injured moments after our second goal, Chelsea reduced arrears soon after that, we then created and failed to take chances before Chelsea’s full revival in the second half as they forged ahead 4-2 before Sonny’s late strike to reduce arrears. Micky and Brennan Johnson also departed after treatment in the second half.

Speaking to our _Review Show_ afterwards, the skipper told us: “We all care, we all care about where we are now, and we all care about these results. Some people may think in a different way, maybe that we don’t care, but we do really care about this club. Everyone is working hard every single day, maybe you don’t see that behind the scenes, but everyone is working really hard to get it right.”

Here’s what Sonny had to say...

_So many ups and downs, Sonny, we started brilliantly, but couldn’t sustain that in the second half..._

Sonny: “Yeah, it's very frustrating and very disappointing because, especially in such an important game, when you go 2-0 up, we can’t concede a goal like we conceded. Look, I want to say that the players worked hard, they all tried very, very hard. They showed real character and personality. Also, in one important moment I missed a chance, and I feel like I let the team down. I take the blame. I should take the big responsibility about this because I think the lads tried really, really hard.”

_There were so many moments, not just your chance, how crucial is it to get these big moments right going forward?_

Sonny: “Yeah, but as I said before, an experienced player like me in a crucial moment like that, you have to step up for the team. I feel like I let the team down and the fans down. I’m very down at the moment, we must also consider some very sloppy goals we should never do, but I must say the players worked hard, worked together to get the right result, but we’re all humans and we make some mistakes. Sometimes you’ve got to just take it and move on. Players also need to learn about it, but as a support, we should give some love, because it’s such an important time, crucial moments, such a young group, we just need big support and that’s what I want to say, as captain.”

_There were more injuries today, how much is that affecting the team?_

Sonny: “Look, these are such important players, when you get the injuries, especially on such a big stage, it’s painful, but injuries, you can’t control that. I hope they’re not too bad and they’re back as soon as possible.”

_You’ve been with us a long time now, everyone will appreciate you taking such responsibility, but you can tell us means so much, and it hurts..._

Sonny: “Yeah, because we all care, we all care about where we are now and we all care about these results. Some people may think in a different way, maybe that we don’t care, but we do really care about this club. Everyone is working hard every single day, maybe you don’t see that behind the scenes, but everyone is working really hard to get it right.  It's tough, very tough, especially as it's a London derby, especially at home, we have such amazing support, so yes, it’s very tough, but we’ve got to stick together, not only in good moments, in bad moments as well, as we always did. I think if we get out of this dark tunnel, we will be really strong, we will grow as a team and a group. First of all, we need big support from you guys, as always.”
