Sandro Tonali will forever by the favourite son of AC Milan, and despite leaving last summer, there is a hope he will return home shortly.
Despite adding some key players in the summer of 2023, it will always be highlighted by the departure of fan favourite Tonali. A player that Milan have missed dearly on the pitch and off of it since and with suggestions that Paulo Fonseca could look to change to a three-man midfield, Sandro would be the ideal option for many.
Whilst a return may be possible in the future, it probably will not be for some time with the midfielder wanting to deliver himself to Newcastle after their continued faith and support for him during his ban from football.
Today, when speaking to Vivo Azzurro TV, Tonali spoke about his time away from football, specifically about being away from ‘home’ and his words have been relayed by Milan News.
“Last year’s was a very hard, but very productive journey. I will always carry with me the memory of the year I spent off the field because it is right not to forget it. I think when a player trains all week without his ultimate goal, which is the game, he finds a sense of emptiness within himself.
“It wasn’t easy to be away from home for the first year without playing an official game, but just trying to maintain fitness. That was the challenge I had to take as seriously as possible.”
