Salah and Van Dijk Reportedly Expected to Agree New Liverpool Deals

Over the past few weeks, [Liverpool](https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/)’s concerning contract situation surrounding stars Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold has appeared to be inching towards a positive resolution in at least the first two cases.

With both Salah and Van Dijk having made public their desire to remain at the club beyond the end of the 2024-25 season—and with both looking at their best under new manager Arne Slot—there has been a growing sense that the deals will, sooner or later, get done.

Confirmation of such comes this week from [Sky’s Melissa Reddy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtWRx5cVCPo), with the club-connected journalist saying contract talks ongoing and “very positive” and hinting that for both players there could be a resolution that arrives before Christmas.

Salah in particular is said to be happy and settled on Merseyside, preferring not to uproot his family and eager to set more club and league records and by doing so to further establish himself as one of the top players in the club’s long and storied history.

Van Dijk also is also said to not want to end his time on Merseyside and wants to continue as club captain beyond the current campaign. Which only leaves the case of Alexander-Arnold, whose situation is said to be somewhat more complex.

There will continue to be pressure on the club to get deals done for all three. There will also perhaps be an understanding the players’ desires play a role as much as the club’s. It seems clear where two see their futures. For the third, we now have to wait and see.
