ESPN pundit says who is most likely to challenge Liverpool– Chelsea or Arsenal

Right now, Chelsea and Arsenal look like the biggest threats to Liverpool winning the Premier League title this season.

Following their 4-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea are now just four points behind Liverpool, who do have a game in hand.

As for Arsenal, they are trailing the league leaders by six after their draw with Fulham.

The Blues’ victory over Tottenham was not a straightforward one. Enzo Maresca had to make some tactical changes, but everything worked out in the end.

Nedum Onuoha on Chelsea and Arsenal

Out of the two London clubs, Chelsea are the more in-form team right now. Not only have they won their last four Premier League games, but they have done so by scoring lots of goals.

Before putting four past Tottenham, Chelsea netted five times against Southampton at St Mary’s.

Even so, former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha still thinks Arsenal are the biggest threat to Liverpool.

When asked on ESPN FC who is better equipped to take on Liverpool in the title race out of Chelsea and Arsenal, Onuoha replied: “I think in the end you’d probably say Arsenal. I think right now, form wise, Chelsea are clearly very much up there.

“But I think Arsenal’s body of work across the last two seasons would suggest that they can go on a really long run, you know probably being unbeaten, winning some big games. So I would lean that way.”

For now, though, Arsenal remain behind both Chelsea and Liverpool. Former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz was taunted by Fulham fans as his side dropped points at Craven Cottage.

Should Manchester City be counted out of the title race?

Not too many people are backing City after their dreadful run of form.

Pep Guardiola’s side dropped more points over the weekend after drawing to Crystal Palace. At this moment in time, it is hard to imagine them finishing above Liverpool, especially with Rodri out injured.

The Premier League champions retaining their crown now seems unlikely. But their squad is still good enough to finish above Chelsea and Arsenal’s, so you probably still have to consider them as a contender.

The Citizens still have the likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne. And if Guardiola can sign a midfielder in January who can do a job similar to Rodri, then it could be game on, which would not be good news for Maresca‘s men.
