All the talk after Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 win over Tottenham centered around the same man yet again as far as the Blues are concerned.
Cole Palmer was exceptional yet again for Chelsea, keeping his composure from the spot twice to help them complete the turnaround victory.
Enzo Maresca was left in awe at Palmer’s panenka that put the game beyond doubt. Club legend John Terry was also quick to get his digs in at the rival fans.
Since joining the Blues, Palmer has 50 goal contributions to his name in the Premier League, and it has become hard to argue against him being the best player in England right now.
Jamie Carragher believes Palmer is already on par with Eden Hazard in terms of his impact for Chelsea, and fello world-class players of recent are also being named when discussing the England international.
Gary Lineker has said that he thought the work the midfielder put in to create Enzo Fernandez’s goal actually reminded him of Lionel Messi.

He said to The Rest is Football: “Chelsea really dominated to be honest. Spurs still had the odd chance on the counter attack, but Cole Palmer. The little assist that he got, he came in from the touchline, it was almost Messi-esque.
“And then he scored two penalties, the second was a little Panenka which was beautifully taken. What a talent.”

Lineker went on to ask if Palmer is actually the best player in the Premier League right now, with fellow pundit Micah Richards leaning towards that he was.
Carragher said earlier this season that he believed Palmer had overtaken Phil Foden in the race for that honour, and the stats between the two players make it look like a no contest right now.

His importance to Chelsea has been shown by the fact he wasn’t rested for the recent game against Southampton, however he will be granted a rest when some of his teammates fly to Kazakhstan for Conference League action on Thursday.
