Analyst Reveals A Big Question Facing The Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans have some big decisions to make.

Things have not been going as planned in the 2024-25 season, and the Pelicans are currently dead last in the West with a 5-20 record.

That’s not because they are without talent; it’s because they are plagued by injuries.

Writing for The Athletic, Will Guillory said the injury-prone Pelicans should make up their minds about Brandon Ingram soon.

Guillory wrote:

“The Pelicans have explored the idea of trading Ingram since last summer. Should they be more urgent in their attempts to move him instead of facing the possibility of allowing him to walk for nothing?”

The Pelicans have been snake-bitten by the injury bug since before the regular season began.

Now that they will be without Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram indefinitely, there are big questions the team needs to face – immediately.

The Pelicans’ injury list is massive.

Ingram, Zion Williamson, Jose Alvarado, Javonte Green, Jordan Hawkins, and Daniel Theis are all out of commission.

And they aren’t the only ones who have been hurt this season.

CJ McCollum and Dejounte Murray just came back from their own physical problems, proving that the injury bug is biting just about everyone on the team.

The Pelicans have been toying with making large roster tweaks over the years, but these injuries might force them to make a move soon.

They don’t want to lose their star players, like Ingram, for nothing, so that means they may need to be proactive.

Losing Ingram wouldn’t be surprising because there were rumors of him leaving the Pelicans in the summer.

A deal for him never came to fruition, and he stuck with the Pelicans when the season kicked off.

But with so many injuries, the Pelicans are reconsidering everything.

They now have a much more urgent need to shake things up, and that could result in trades they’ve put off in the past.
