The Premier League has announced that two Liverpool fixtures in February have been rescheduled for TV coverage, impacting an away trip to Manchester City.
Firstly, Liverpool's home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been moved to Sunday, Feb. 16 and will kick off at 2 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET). Liverpool will also play on Sunday the following week, as the away trip to City has been moved to Sunday, Feb. 23.
The kick-off time at City's Etihad Stadium is yet to be confirmed, but will likely occupy the 4:30 p.m. local time slot (11:30 a.m. ET). Both of Liverpool's rescheduled games will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, and on Peacock/USA Today in the United States.
Liverpool has four Premier League games scheduled for February, although success in the Champions League, League Cup, and FA Cup will determine which extra dates are added to the calendar. Should Liverpool beat Southampton in the League Cup quarterfinal on Dec. 18, they will play in a two-legged semi-final, with games scheduled for Jan. 6 and Feb. 3.
The Reds face Bournemouth at the Vitality on Saturday, Feb. 1, before league action pauses for the fourth round of the FA Cup the following weekend. Liverpool will be in that draw providing League Two side Accrington Stanley don't secure a shock win at Anfield on Jan. 11 in the third round.
Liverpool then resumes its Premier League campaign against Wolves on Sunday, Feb. 16, before a major clash at the Etihad Stadium against City. February's Premier League fixtures conclude on Wednesday, Feb. 26, when Liverpool welcome Newcastle United to Anfield.
The Premier League must also find a date to stage the last ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, after Liverpool's clash away at Everton was called off on Saturday morning. Extreme weather warnings in the northwest of England saw the game postponed, with a new date currently under discussion.
"Everton’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool, scheduled for 12.30pm (GMT) today, Saturday 7 December, has been postponed," Everton wrote in a statement on Saturday morning. "Following a Safety Advisory Group meeting at Goodison Park, attended by officials from both clubs, as well as representatives from Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council this morning, it was decided that, due to the risk to safety in the local area due to strong wind gusts, and an amber severe wind warning that remains in place until 6am on Sunday, today’s fixture should be postponed on safety grounds."
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank supporters for their understanding. Whilst we appreciate this will be deeply disappointing for supporters, the safety of fans, staff and players is of paramount importance. Information relating to a rearranged date for the fixture will be announced in due course."
Despite not playing, it was an encouraging weekend for Liverpool as City and Arsenal drew away to Crystal Palace and Fulham respectively. Chelsea's winning run continued, meaning they're only four points behind Liverpool, but have played an extra game.
