Liverpool return to action this Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League with an enticing away trip against Girona.
Having had Saturday’s Merseyside Derby postponed due to adverse weather, Arne Slot’s side head to Catalonia fully refreshed and raring to go, with Liverpool the only side in this season’s UEFA Champions League to win every game so far in the league phase.
Although Federico Chiesa missed training with Liverpool also expected to be without Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota, the Reds will feel confident in getting a sixth Champions League win under their belt this year.
Here’s our predicted XI for tomorrow night’s clash against Girona.

Defence
Trent Alexander-Arnold starred against Newcastle United from the bench, with Eddie Howe lauding the Liverpool defender as ‘outstanding’ after registering two assists for Mohamed Salah in what was a thrilling 3-3 draw for the Reds.
Having had a weekend off and more time to rest, Girona would be the perfect opposition to bring Alexander-Arnold back into the starting XI having missed some weeks due to injury, a move that will also allow Joe Gomez to return to centre-back to partner Virgil van Dijk.
With Tsimikas still injured, Andy Robertson is the natural pick for Liverpool at left-back, with Slot’s backline looking as strong as it has looked in some time with Alexander-Arnold back to full fitness.
Midfield
With Alexis Mac Allister suspended for this tie, Curtis Jones is the favourite to replace the Argentine international in the midfield, with Ryan Gravenberch set to remain in the XI having been reinvented this season in the no. 6 role.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Gravenberch was taken off by Slot in last weeks’ 3-3 draw against Newcastle, though the decision was purely tactical as the Netherlands youngster looks likely to start alongside Jones in a midfield pivot, with Dominik Szoboszlai once again in the advanced attacking midfield role.
Indeed, tonight will be an ideal time for the Hungarian international to win some fans on his side after a somewhat disappointing start to the season, and Szoboszlai will fancy his fortunes against a team like Girona, who currently sit ninth in the La Liga standings.

Attack
Liverpool’s attack has been a key reason behind the incredible run in Europe this season, with Luis Diaz’s move to centre-forward coming against Bayer Leverkusen in a 4-0 win for the Reds at Anfield.
And the £49m signing from FC Porto could once again start in the striker position away in Catalonia, with Diaz flanked by Cody Gakpo on the left and the in-form Mohamed Salah on the right, who will be keen to return to action on Tuesday.
With Darwin Nunez as an option on the bench, Liverpool have the options to give Girona nightmares for some weeks, and the Reds will be confident in blowing the La Liga side out of the water when the two sides meeting tomorrow night.
