Kevin Thelwell will surely be sweating over his future at Everton after Dan Ashworth left Manchester United.
Everton’s regression over the past several seasons has largely been down to the poor recruitment spearheaded by Thelwell, who could be at risk of the sack once the TFG takeover is ratified.
The news of Ashworth’s departure from Old Trafford has led supporters of various clubs to clamour for his expertise, with an appointment at Everton mooted.
Ashworth would be a major coup for any club, but with Everton hoping to rekindle their reputation under the Friedkins, Thelwell will surely be concerned about where his future at the club lies.

Recruitment has been arguably the biggest factor behind the Toffees’ downfall in recent years. From a club who were capable of challenging near the top to a side that look destined for a relegation battle each season, he will surely be under pressure.

Ashworth has shown his ability in the recruitment world of football to revolutionise a club with neat signings that can in turn become a steady source of income from inflated player sales. This is something Everton have needed for a long time.

Of course, Ashworth won’t be short of career opportunities, but the prospect of working under a new and ambitious ownership could provide the Toffees with the upper hand in regards to his next move.
Thelwell has done little at Goodison Park to make an argument for him to stay in post, and Ashworth’s unexpected availably will surely have him sweating over his own future.
