Manchester United are back in action this week as they look to return to winning ways

Manchester United were beaten 3-2 at home by Nottingham Forest over the weekend. They weren’t able to find an equaliser against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the end and were left with nothing at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are back in action on Thursday night with an away trip in the Europa League to face Viktoria Plzen. In the meantime, here is a look at the latest news and rumours coming out of the club....

Striker wanted

United are ‘interested’ in a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the January transfer window along with fellow Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal, according to a report by TBR Football. The Red Devils are being linked with a swoop for the Serie A man this winter as they prepare for the second-half of the season under the guidance of Ruben Amorim.

Vlahovic, who is 24-years-old, is a Serbia international with 32 caps to his name so far in his career. He could be seen as someone to add more competition and depth to the attacking department but there appears to be some competition for his signature.

The attacker started out at OFK Beograd before rising up through the academy ranks at Partizan. He broke into the first-team of the latter as a teenager before Fiorentina snapped him up back in 2018.

Vlahovic went on to become a key player during his days in Tuscany and scored 49 goals in 108 games to earn a move to Juventus. He has since found the net on 50 occasions in 118 outings for the Turin giants but is his long-term future is up in the air amid talk of attention from over in England.

Goalkeeper latest

Hull City are said to be keen on United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, according to Turkish news outlet Fotospor. However, HullLive have poured cold water on the speculation and have reported that he is not a player on the Tigers’ radar at this stage.

He said earlier this year that he is ready for more game time: “I need to be ready always and I’m just waiting. I’m just working hard and, if you are a football player, you don’t know when a chance can come to you. And you need to be ready.

"I’m working hard at the training ground and it’s just that I want to play. I need more of a chance to take. Of course, it’s important for a player and I can say, in football, you have to do different things in training and in a game. They are two different things. You can work hard and do everything on the training ground but you need to show yourself in the game.

"It’s more important because, if you will show yourself in the game, everyone can see it because, of course, you need to work hard and you need to show yourself on the training ground. But it’s two different things. Do you know what I mean? You need to show yourself in the game and on the pitch.”
