Gilbert Arenas Has Advice For Jonathan Kuminga About Contract Negotiations

Jonathan Kuminga has been playing some terrific basketball for the Golden State Warriors lately, but the future of his career is still in doubt.

Will he stick with the Warriors, who have yet to offer him a contract extension, or will he take his talents to another team?

Speaking on his show, Gilbert Arenas urged Kuminga to accept what he is offered by the Warriors and not get bent out of shape about the final sum of his next contract.

Kuminga should view the contract as an investment in him and a belief in his future.

He should be satisfied with the contract and not throw away a good thing with the Warriors.

“Don’t lose $90 million trying to get $10 million,” Arenas said.

Kuminga is averaging 15.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season.

That’s following his explosive season last year when he became a starting player and truly one of the most important parts of the team’s lineup.

This year, he has started in eight of 21 games, and head coach Steve Kerr clearly isn’t sold on how he wants to use Kuminga.

Meanwhile, the front office and Kuminga’s management can’t see eye-to-eye on a deal, and that means he is currently playing without knowing what’s next in his career.

But he needs to just keep playing hard because he has been doing well lately and earning his keep.

And that might mean he could earn a huge payday.

Even if Golden State doesn’t grant Kuminga a monster contract soon, he should consider his options and try to remain with the team, according to Arenas.

If the Warriors want to stick with him, Kuminga should take them up on their offer.
