Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed that Alisson Becker is fit and ready to face Girona in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Brazilian goalkeeper took part in an open training session on Monday and has travelled with the squad to Spain for their sixth game of the league phase.
Alisson has been sidelined by a hamstring injury he suffered during the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on 5 October.
“He is fit,” Slot told reporters at his pre-match press conference. “It speaks for itself if you can play with Alisson, who has been so outstanding for this club and Brazil so it is nice to have him back.”
Caoimhín Kelleher has impressed between the sticks in Alisson’s absence, but the Irishman could make way to allow for his teammate’s return to the starting lineup.
“If you look at his replacement, it is not easy to do it even better but Caoimhín did so well so we can say we have two great goalkeepers who can do the job for us, but for so many years Alisson has been so good, so we are expecting that.”
Liverpool still have a number of key players unavailable and have only taken 19 players with them to Girona. Diogo Jota has not made the trip despite partaking in training as he continues his recovery from a rib injury he sustained against Chelsea in mid-October.
Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas are all ruled out through injury, while Alexis Mac Allister is suspended.
Liverpool travelling squad: Alisson, Gomez, Endo, Van Dijk, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Salah, Jones, Gakpo, Elliott, Robertson, Gravenberch, McConnell, Jaros, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Norris, Quansah.
