Joel Embiid Gets Honest About His Knee Issues

It’s been some time since Joel Embiid has played a full season for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Sadly, knee problems have repeatedly held him back from playing like the MVP he is, and he is well aware of how frustrating that is.

It’s not just frustrating for fans; it’s depressing for Embiid himself.

Speaking with Tim Bontemps via Legion Hoops, Embiid spoke about the knee injury he can’t seem to fully recover from.

Embiid said:

“There’s no injury. Just between the swelling… we’ve got to get it figured out… I’ve been saying it for the last few months. It’s been extremely depressing.”

Embiid says everything is figured out, but he isn’t playing as much as people expected this season.

So far, he’s appeared in just five games, and those games have been a mixed bag.

He has a season average of 22.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game so far, but hopefully those numbers should rise as he plays more.

And hopefully, the 76ers will play better as time goes on.

They are currently the 12th team in the East with a 7-15 record after two consecutive wins.

Obviously, that’s not where they wanted to be, but at least it’s better than it was just a few weeks ago.

The team has had awful luck with injuries, not just to Embiid.

But it’s been Embiid’s problems that flare up the most, and it sometimes feels as if he will never really get it under control.

No matter what he says or how long he plays for, fans will continually worry that another injury is right around the corner.

Embiid said it’s depressing to go through this, and there is no doubt he’s unhappy about it, but will he ever get healthy for a considerable amount of time again?
