Liverpool’s preparations for their Champions League clash against Girona have been dealt a significant setback with midfielder Tyler Morton ruled out due to an injury sustained in training on Monday.
The Reds, flying high in the revamped European Cup with five wins from five, aim to cement their position at the top of the 32-team standings in Tuesday night’s crucial fixture.
Arne Slot’s squad faces a hectic schedule, with six matches lined up before the month’s end, making squad rotation crucial. With Alexis Mac Allister suspended, Morton’s potential inclusion had been considered. However, the 21-year-old will miss the trip to Spain, though the injury has been described as minor.

In other news, Federico Chiesa will also miss the Girona game due to illness. The Italy international had recently featured for Liverpool’s Under-21s, scoring in their narrow 4-3 defeat to FC Nordsjaelland. His absence further limits Slot’s options as the team goes through this demanding period.
Liverpool are hearing some positive news in the injury section
There is some positive news as well. Diogo Jota has completed full training and pushing for his first appearance in nearly two months. The forward has been sidelined since October 20 after a collision with Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo.
Similarly, Alisson Becker’s return to training is a significant boost. The Brazilian goalkeeper has missed 11 matches since tearing his hamstring in early October. But he could be in contention to start against Girona, pending further updates from Slot.
However, Liverpool remain without several key players. Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate for example. Konate suffered injuries during the 2-0 win over Real Madrid last month. He is still sidelined.
Bradley is recovering from a hamstring issue, while Konate’s knee problem has no set recovery timeline. Kostas Tsimikas also continues to be unavailable due to an ankle injury.
On the brighter side, youngsters Amara Nallo, Trey Nyoni, Rio Ngumoha, and James Norris have joined first-team training, offering depth as Liverpool look to extend their winning streak in Europe.
Slot’s pre-match press conference, set for Monday evening, will provide further clarity on Liverpool’s plans and injury situation.
