Manchester United have been backed to sign former defender Alvaro Fernandez when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Red Devils loaned out the 21-year-old to Benfica last winter. He was signed on a permanent basis for a buy clause worth £5 million.
Fernandez has since developed into one of the best left-backs in the division and A Bola claim that United are lining up to re-sign him soon.
The club agreed a low buy-back clause of £16.5m with the Portuguese giants and they are aiming to trigger the fee at the turn of the year.
New manager Ruben Amorim has told the club to sign a specialist for the left wing-back role and a reunion with Fernandez is being considered.
Amorim is also impressed with the progress made by the former Real Madrid graduate and he is expected to give the green light for a deal.
Should Fernandez rejoin United, one of Luke Shaw or Tyrell Malacia could be shown the exit door at the end of the ongoing campaign.
