Chris Paul of the San Antonio Spurs has already had a historic career, but it became even more amazing on Sunday night as he passed Jason Kidd for second place on the NBA’s all-time career assists list.
Paul now has 12,099 assists during his 20-year career, a massive feat that may not be toppled soon.
Kidd spoke about this achievement to the press and Joey Mistretta, per ClutchPoints, and had nothing but big praise for the man who surpassed him.
Kidd said Paul’s honor was “well deserved” and called him a “future Hall of Famer.”
He also said that Paul isn’t done yet.
Kidd went on to praise John Stockton, who remains the all-time assist leader for now.
“Talk about Chris Paul and all the great point guards in this league… I didn't play long enough to catch John Stockton… He's never mentioned in the top 5 point guards ever. He should always be top 2."

Stockton’s record is probably safe for the time being.
Although Paul has racked up nearly 13,000 assists, Stockton has 15,806.
Since Paul is nearing the end of his career, it’s unlikely that he will get past Stockton, but that doesn’t take away anything from what he did on Sunday night.
For years, Paul has been a hard-working and dedicated team leader.
The stats have shown that he positively impacts every squad he plays for and finds ways to bring his teammates together.
He assists in ways beyond just passing the ball, and the Spurs are benefiting from that this season.
Like many, Kidd wants to celebrate everything Paul has done.
Kidd said that all records are meant to be broken, and he’s happy to see Paul pass him by.
Someday, someone will move past Paul and, eventually, Stockton as well.
