Eight UM researchers featured on global highly cited list

Eight UM researchers have been selected for their exceptional research performance and impact as demonstrated by multiple highly cited papers in 2024. 

The list is released by [Clarivate](https://recognition.webofscience.com/awards/highly-cited/2021/?utm_campaign=EM1_Highly_Cited_Researchers_SAR_Global_2021_Recipients_EN&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Eloqua), an organization that focuses on analytics and research. Each year, Clarivate’s [Web of Science](https://clarivate.com/academia-government/scientific-and-academic-research/research-discovery-and-referencing/web-of-science/) identifies the world’s most influential researchers who have been most frequently cited by their peers. 

> “Being recognized on the highly cited researchers list is a direct reflection of the remarkable impact of research conducted by research teams at UM,” says Mario Pinto, Vice-President Research and International. “Their work influences other researchers around the world and confirms that UM is a leader in the global arena.”

**UM’s highly cited researchers included on this year’s list include:**

**Heather Adam** – Assistant Professor, Max Rady College of Medicine

**Ekram Hossain** – Professor, Price Faculty of Engineering

**Rotimi Aluko** – Professor, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences

**James Karlowsky** – Professor, Max Rady College of Medicine

**Phillipe Lagacé-Wiens** – Assistant Professor, Max Rady College of Medicine

**Frank Schweizer** – Professor, Max Rady College of Medicine and Faculty of Science

**Sheryle Zelenistsky** – Professor, College of Pharmacy

**George Zhanel** – Professor, Max Rady College of Medicine
