This was going to be a huge week for FSG as they looked to get major deals over the line both for Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox.
For the former, it's new contracts, that are on the agenda with offers being made to Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah in a bid to keep them at the club beyond their current deals.

For the latter, it was all about the free agency market in the baseball off-season with the MLB's rising superstar Juan Soto up for grabs for the Red Sox.
But while FSG expected to get major deals over the line this week that could potentially end up costing them a billion dollars, it has proved to be a disappointing start.
FSG's week starts with a disaster
It's not the news that the FSG offices were expected to hear on Monday morning in Boston.
The Liverpool owners' baseball franchise, the Boston Red Sox had banked a lot on being able to land Soto in the free agency this week.
A hefty contract offer was made to the Dominican Republic star. Someone who the Red Sox were hoping to build their whole franchise around after losing Mookie Betts a few years ago and not really being able to land anyone of star calibre ever since.
However, Soto has instead ended up signing for the New York Mets and penning a record deal in sporting history.
Soto's contract is worth close to £600m and stretches over a 15 year period. It is the highest contract given to any athlete in any sport in history.
Not being able to match such an offer is not necessarily a surprise. However, FSG will be very disappointed nonetheless.
Their promises to make record investments into the Red Sox have seemingly failed once again and they will now have to scramble to find appropriate acquisitions in the market.

But FSG can still make this into a successful week. As mentioned above, Liverpool are still locked in negotiations with Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold.
These seem to be heading in a good direction and there is encouraging progress being made. If FSG continue on the same track they could end up wrapping up deals for all three by the end of the week, although that might be asking a lot.
Either way positive progress on either of the trio will be a promising start. FSG need to keep players like Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool.
Otherwise, the Reds could end up just like the Red Sox once Betts had left for the LA Dodgers and the club's owners will be desperate to avoid a similar situation.
